SJC Drum's Drum/ L.A. Show

This is the drum I'm doing for SJC Drum's Artist Series that's coming out in January at NAMM. I didn't realize how much my camera hates me until I put these pictures on here, the actual drum looks better and isn't out of focus..
It was cool to work on something different for a change and since I'm the sickest air drummer in the world, this worked out nice..
An idea for a piece I'm going to start in January. This is what a bison looks like in my head w/out any reference..I've got to figure out what he's doing w/ his hand/the rest of the painting..
Sketch for my piece for the He-Man show at Gallery 1988 in L.A. in January. I've got about 3 weeks to start/finish/mail this on top of getting others shows done/school/work/greeting cards/etc..back to work..

It's Going Down!!

If you're on the Gulf Coast next month, try to make it out to the show in Mobile, AL at the Robertson Gallery. It's a two man show with Keith Barthelmeus. I'll have about 10 new pieces and a limited edition print that I'll be signing at the opening.

The postcards came in last week, this is what's left of them, they went fast but I've got a couple left to hand out..
Something I had to do REALLY fast..
This is what's been keeping me going, this is nowhere near the actual number of bottles I've had over these past couple months..not good..
Progress shot..largest painting I've ever done..hopefully I'll finish it tonight.

Newspaper interview/photo shoot later this week, plus a couple people contacting the gallery about getting commissions started. After this I start painting the snare drum for SJC Drums and the piece for Gallery 1988 and the greeting cards for AustinHandmade.com. ..back to work..

What's Going On..

I'm officially down to the wire..60 days left to pull off finishing the 2-man show @ the Robertson Gallery, finish the snare drum for SJC Drums, come up with/draw/paint the piece for the group show at Gallery 1988 and figure out what I'm going to do for Art Basel, I've got to figure out how to stop sleeping altogether..

First up, a piece I had to do for something, I just like drawing animals so I use any excuse I can to do it..

This is the cave I've been living in for the past couple of months. You can't see the 30 or so Diet Mt. Dew bottles littering the floor that've been keeping me alive through this. In my head I imagine a kidney stone growing inside of me the size of a full term baby, but what can you do?

Some of the paintings for the Mobile, AL show..trying to keep things under wraps till a little closer to the opening but I thought I'd put up something to keep the blog from being all random sketches and babble..

Unframed piece for the Mobile, AL show..using sticks, pinecones, etc to get rough effects and trying different things..

Here's the big one..the biggest piece I've ever done..I think it's 30" x 40"..which isn't huge but big for me..a lot left to do on it but it's coming together..

So that's what I've got for now..also a big thanks to Adam at www.Twenty2wo.com for posting my stuff..

I'll have the flier for the Mobile show up this week and a few other things..

Quick Post..

Here's a sketch that'll be turned into something for the show in December. I'd be lying if I said I'd been working crazy hard these past couple days, I'm a little burnt but I'll get back on it tonight..

Painting from Upcoming Show..

So, it's a little later than I promised, but here's a finished piece for the December show in Mobile, AL at the Robertson Gallery.

This was the one I had to do with acrylic, a stick and a pine cone for something a couple weeks ago. I brought it home and added some washes, it's different than what I usually do so I was a little nervous about doing anything with it but people I've shown it to have been stoked about it so we're going to add it to the show. It might also end up being part of a limited ed. suprise for the show..

This is the final sketch for the SJC Drums Artist Series snare I'm painting. I think I've finally got it where I want it so I'm painting on this while waiting for paint on other pieces to dry..it's hectic but hopefully everything will come together in time. Wish me luck..

Quick Post..

I'm turning in circles right now with all of the projects and work going on but I wanted to put something up so nobody thinks I'm dead..This is a sketch that might become something..

And I did this while waiting in the car for something, don't really remember..
Sorry for the lack of finished pieces, I'm trying to keep everything under wraps till the shows. I'll try to have some more stuff up this weekend..

Also, thanks to everybody that comes by to check the blog, I think it's at 400 views in just a couple months, I'll try to keep it interesting..
